’77 Hawk Profile

Doreen Mesick Padgett

After graduation from Spruce Creek, I looked thru the DBCC catalog and decided that the drafting and design program was right up my alley.  I earned my 2 year degree in Dec 79.  I have worked for a few different engineering firms here in the Daytona area.  I am currently employed with McKim and Creed, been here since 1994.  My official title is senior designer; I use computer software to design underground utilities such as reclaimed water, water and wastewater mains.  I thoroughly enjoy the design aspect and the challenges that my job entails.

During the time I was attending DBCC, I met my husband of 27 years Bobby Padgett, Mainland class of 1975.  We met thru a mutual friend at ABC in South Daytona; remember the one with the revolving bar?  Bobby and I were married in May of 1980; we had our son Robby in August of 1983 and daughter Erin in June of 1986.  After supporting the kids with their sports, karate, scouts, art, dance and theater interests, both graduated high school from Seabreeze in 2002 and 2004 respectively.  Robby is 23 and works for Lowe’s and Erin is 20 and a junior at FSU pursuing a degree in fashion merchandising and minor in business.

Bobby and I reside in Ormond Beach.  Now that we are empty nesters we love to travel.  Some of our favorite places we have visited are New York City, Nevada and recently California wine country.  We were thrilled to have been able to travel in the summer of 2005 to Europe and visit some beautiful cities in the countries of Italy, Croatia and Greece.
