October 2, 1959 – June 1, 2008

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of a beloved member of our community, Jeffrey Scott, 48, of Daytona Beach.

A memorial service will be held to celebrate his life at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, June 5, 2008, at the Greek Orthodox Reception Hall, 129 N. Halifax, Daytona Beach.

Jeff was born on October 2, 1959, in Chicago, Illinois.

At the early age of seven, he began playing clarinet and sax. His talents evolved, his love for music deepened and for the past five years Jeff played clarinet with Hot House Band. His other passion was being on the water, whether on his surfboard or Hobie Cat racing.

Jeff will also be remembered for his involvement with Pierson Mission Clinic and for his strong sense of community. Jeff touched many lives in many ways, and his work ethic was a major part in his giving to others.

Jeffrey leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of six years, Julie, and his daughters, two-year-old Haley and one-month-old Jordan. He also leaves his parents, Irene and William Scott; brothers, James and Roger Scott; three nieces, Natalie, Samantha and Chloe; and nephew, James.

Live On

You can shed tears that he is gone,
or you can smile because he lived.

You can close your eyes and pray that he’ll come back,
or you can open your eyes and see all he’s left.

Your heart can be empty because you can’t see him,
or you can be full of the love you shared.

You can turn back on tomorrow and live yesterday,
or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.

You can remember him and only that he’s gone,
or you can cherish his memory and let it live on.

You can cry and close your mind,
be empty and turn your back,

or you can do what he’d want;

smile,

open your eyes,

love,

and go on.
